The simplest device for wireless energy transfer
Wireless energy transfer is a very hot topic nowadays. Every day there is an incredible development of technology in various fields of science. Progress does not stand still, and some technologies that previously seemed new are now everyday participants in our lives. Already at the end of the 19th century, scientist Nikola Tesla showed the whole world the possibility of transmitting electricity over a significant distance. He lit a light bulb three kilometers away using electromagnetic radiation. Nowadays, the method of transmitting energy without wires is actively used, making our lives easier. Already today, many phones support wireless charging, and this is very convenient and practical. A device for wirelessly charging toothbrush batteries is actively used; there are even wireless electric cars. I became interested in this problem, because this area arose quite recently.I was interested in studying this topic in more detail, understanding the principle of its operation, and independently, clearly and effectively demonstrating the transfer of energy without wires at home.
How to make a simple device for wireless energy transfer
Let's start making a device for wireless energy transfer. To clearly show the transmission of electricity without wires, I used an elementary circuit of an air transformer. The experiment turned out to be simple, and most importantly, visual and surprising. Using inductors was the most effective solution; the method of electromagnetic induction works. This is a simple technology that is understandable to everyone. It is based on two copper coils placed close to each other. We connect one of them to a power source, it will transmit electromagnetic waves. The second coil will act as a receiver. By changing the current in the first coil, we achieve an alternating magnetic field, which generates a change in the magnetic field in the receiver coil. According to Maxwell's law, an EMF (electromotive force) arises in the receiver, which is directly proportional to the rate of change of this magnetic flux.
Details
To make the product you will need: thin insulated copper wire with a diameter of 0.1 mm, n-p-n type bipolar transistor, Light-emitting diode, power supply, tools (soldering iron, pliers, utility knife). What is a transistor used for? It periodically opens and closes, thereby generating alternating current in the coil, which acts as a source. A magnetic field arises from the movement of charged electrons and ions in a conductor. Only alternating current generates an alternating electromagnetic field. The secondary coil receives it and converts it into electric current, which powers the Light-emitting diode. The first step was winding the coils. Carefully, I wound three coils turn by turn: 30, 60 and 90 turns each. Next, I soldered all the elements according to the diagram. You must touch the base of the transistor to open it and start the generator. Light-emitting diode lights up, it means the circuit is assembled correctly and is fully operational. Thus, at home, I achieved wireless energy transfer.
With the help of this experiment, I learned new information for myself, studied the methods and operating principles of wireless energy transfer, and learned the prospects for the further development of this technology. I proved by my own example that creating a device to demonstrate the wireless transmission of electricity does not take much effort and time, it is even interesting and educational. I believe that I adequately accomplished my goal and solved all the assigned tasks. With the help of additional literature, I understood all the nuances of this topic, and determined how to explain the operation of different types of wireless devices. I made my own air transformer, the device works great and does its job. I will attach a diagram and photo of my device to my research.
I would like to believe that the future lies behind this promising technology and that wireless energy, which is developing today, will be actively applied and used in the future. This should simplify and improve the life of mankind.
