Unusual bevel gear for transmitting torque
To transmit torque at an angle of 90 degrees, you can use a very unusual gearbox. It's an easy-to-make mechanism that's fun to watch in action, and can easily be used in a variety of projects.
It is necessary to cut 2 disks from sheet wood. If you plan to transmit torque from a small motor like 775 DC, then you can use plywood, board or MDF.
Holes for the shafts are made in the center of the disks. Then you need to divide them into 3 identical sectors. Drill symmetrical holes according to the marks at the same distance from the edge of the circle. You need to make 2-3 holes on each line between the sectors.
Then one of the disks is installed on the drive, and the second is rotated to it at a right angle and fixed to the mechanism to which the rotation must be transferred.
After this, the disks are connected to each other by three L-shaped rods through holes.
When the main disk rotates on the drive, the second one located at a right angle relative to it will also rotate. In this case, you can lower or increase the speed of the driven disk if you insert rods into the holes closer or further from the edge.
