How to tie reinforcement into a knot without heating
In the manufacture of parapets, stair railings, fences and other metal structures, various decorative strength elements are used. The use of such artistic forging products is very expensive. However, you can make a beautiful metal structure without them, simply by using hand-tied knots from reinforcement.
What you will need:
- Reinforcement 6-8 mm;
- vice;
- 1/2 inch pipes;
- round timber 10-12 mm.
The process of manufacturing a unit from reinforcement
It is necessary to determine the bending point on the reinforcing bar, attach a round rod to it at a right angle, and clamp them in a vice.
It is important that the point of their intersection is strongly compressed, and at the same time located at the edge of the jaws of the vice. Next, a tube is put on the reinforcement, and with the help of this lever it is bent around the rod 3/4 of a turn.
Now you need to step back from the bend at a distance of 3-4 fingers, and then perform a similar bend towards the first one. You need to try to ensure that its radius is the same as the previous one.
Next, the workpiece is clamped vertically at the very edge of the vice at one end of the reinforcement. A finger is inserted into the twisted eyes, and then with the help of tubes the loops are brought together towards each other. The horizontal part of the reinforcement must bend around 2 vertical elements, and not vice versa.
You can finally correct the knot by clamping the loops with a vice and tapping it with a hammer.
Now if you insert a rod or reinforcement into these loops, then everything will really look like a rope knot. This way you can make racks, lintels and other decorative elements for metal structures using cheap fittings. It looks very decent, is inexpensive and takes a little time.
