Cheap car dashboard polish from your bathtub
Many car enthusiasts use special polishes to care for the instrument panel and plastic door cards. They are able to perfectly clean deep pores and create an antistatic layer on the surface that prevents dust from sticking. If you don’t have a commercial polish, you can use a regular Lenor fabric softener.
Materials:
- Lenor;
- distilled water.
Polish manufacturing and testing process
To prepare the polish, you need to mix Lenor conditioner and distilled water in a 1:1 ratio. The composition is collected in a spray bottle. It can be prepared immediately with a reserve, since it does not spoil in distilled water.
The composition is shaken before use. The panel is pre-wiped from dust. Then a homemade polish is applied. It is rubbed in with a rag or napkin. For clarity of the test, masking tape is used to divide the surface. The treated half shows that it has become cleaner.
The effectiveness of the product can be more clearly assessed by treating the panel of an old car with tired plastic.The grated half clearly becomes fresher than just the dusted half.
For the purity of the experiment, a comparison of a homemade product with a professional one is required. It is applied in the third panel. The anti-aging effect of it is clearly better, but it also costs more.
The main value of polish is its dust-repellent properties. So the effectiveness of the treatment needs to be seen after some time. A week later, wiping the test panel of an old car with a clean napkin after “Lenor” you can see that it is almost not dirty. The untreated part of the panel is covered in dust, and the napkin clearly becomes darker after wiping it.
The situation is similar with the newer panel. More dust settles on the untreated half. So Lenor is clearly effective as an antistatic agent. But the shine from it does not last long.
The real polish obviously works better than Lenor. A panel rubbed with it after a week shines, just like immediately after polishing, and there is less dust on it than on the untreated half. So, homemade polish has proven its effectiveness, but it is clearly worse than a real store-bought one. But since fabric softener is available in every home, a homemade product is more accessible to everyone.
