How to ideally apply film to furniture curves

You can often find desks and computer desks with a rounded edge. This creates certain difficulties when gluing film on them. When you try to do this, wrinkles inevitably form on the edges. They can be avoided by knowing a few secrets.

Tools:

Mounting hair dryer;
squeegee.

The process of pasting furniture with a rounded edge

If furniture has rounded edges, then the sheet of film is cut out with a good margin for overhangs of 6-10 cm. First, we wipe the surface from dust, degrease, and glue the film to the front side as usual.

Then we heat the film on the corner with a hairdryer at the minimum temperature. You can’t hold it in one place so as not to burn it. The film softens, after which we press it with a finger on the corner so that it sticks to the edge by a couple of millimeters.

Now we heat the cape at the bend, and disperse the heat from it to the edges. Then we pull it opposite the bend and glue it to the edge, smoothing it evenly with our finger.

Where there is a fold, we heat it some more and pull the overhang down. This will smooth it out, after which we smooth it to the surface.

Cut off the overhang, leaving 10 mm.

After that, we warm it over the bend and wrap the part on the wrong side. Here we already use a squeegee. Where there are folds left, we warm it up some more. Thus, we obtain a perfect fit of the film without defects.
