How to make a thread-cutting nozzle for PP pipes. Do-it-yourself collapsible water supply
Polypropylene pipes require soldering, so their connections are permanent, unless, of course, metal threaded fittings are used. The latter are quite expensive, so in some cases you can do without them and simply make threads on the pipes themselves. This connection is suitable for low-pressure pipelines such as garden watering systems, or frames made of PP pipes. To form threads on polypropylene, you can assemble a simple device. We offer 2 options for such a device - for an electric soldering iron and a torch.
Materials:
- Nipple brass outer 1/2 inch;
- 1/2 inch brass plug;
- M6 bolt with wide head;
- extended nut M6;
- old paint roller.
1. Device for an electric soldering iron
It is necessary to drill a 1/2-inch plug and cut an M6 thread in the hole.
After this, a long M6 bolt with a wide head is selected, which gets stuck in the nipple with an external thread. The nipple and plug are installed using a bolt on a soldering iron for PP pipes instead of standard equipment.
After heating, PP pipes are screwed onto them, as a result of which a thread is formed in them. You just need to screw in and then unscrew the pipe.
Please note that a 25 mm pipe is screwed onto the fitting and a 20 mm pipe into the plug. In this case, they can be connected together.
2. Device for the burner
If you do not have an electric soldering iron, then the made equipment is attached to the handle. It will serve as a handle from a paint roller. You need to screw an M6 pin into it and attach an extended nut at the end.
The equipment is installed on this holder. It is heated by a gas burner or a gasoline blowtorch.
While the equipment is hot, screw the pipes onto it.
In this case, an external or internal thread is first made, and then the nozzle is rearranged and the mating part is smelted. Moreover, the plug is installed on a permanent basis, and the nipple is screwed into it if necessary.
