The simplest uninterruptible power supply for a WiFi router on 1 relay
If electricity constantly disappears in your home, then the Internet disappears along with it. At the same time, a signal is sent over the network, but the switched off router does not process it. With some simple modifications to your router, you will have WiFi even when your building is without power.
What you will need:
- Li-ion 18650 batteries – 3 pcs. - http://alii.pub/5becfz
- diodes 5399 – 2 pcs. - http://alii.pub/5m5na6
- relay 12 V - http://alii.pub/60ep1w
- plug and connector, like on the router's power supply.
The process of installing uninterruptible power supply on the router
3 18650 batteries will serve as an emergency power source for the router. We set them level, alternating polarity, and connect them with electrical tape.
Then we connect the batteries in series, thereby combining their voltage. We simply solder the wires to the terminals.
Next, you need to deal with the switching unit between the mains voltage and the emergency one. A 12V relay is used for this. According to the diagram, two diodes are soldered to it.
Then you need to solder a plug and connector to the relay, as in a standard power supply from the router. We also solder the assembled battery pack.
Now we connect the power supply from the router to the connector on the relay.
The plug from the switching node must be inserted into the router. Thus, if there is a power outage, the router will automatically switch to battery backup power.
