The simplest uninterruptible power supply for a WiFi router on 1 relay

If electricity constantly disappears in your home, then the Internet disappears along with it. At the same time, a signal is sent over the network, but the switched off router does not process it. With some simple modifications to your router, you will have WiFi even when your building is without power.

What you will need:

The process of installing uninterruptible power supply on the router

3 18650 batteries will serve as an emergency power source for the router. We set them level, alternating polarity, and connect them with electrical tape.

Then we connect the batteries in series, thereby combining their voltage. We simply solder the wires to the terminals.

Next, you need to deal with the switching unit between the mains voltage and the emergency one. A 12V relay is used for this. According to the diagram, two diodes are soldered to it.

Then you need to solder a plug and connector to the relay, as in a standard power supply from the router. We also solder the assembled battery pack.

Now we connect the power supply from the router to the connector on the relay.

The plug from the switching node must be inserted into the router. Thus, if there is a power outage, the router will automatically switch to battery backup power.

How will the batteries be charged?
It might be easier to hang gel batteries parallel to the power supply, and install a more powerful power supply, that’s all. No relays. I did this, everything has been working for more than a year. Good luck.

I can also share simple backup lighting for an apartment or house. We buy a 12 volt screwdriver. The next step is to go to the auto store and purchase LED lamps also for 12 volts. We are making backup 12-volt wiring throughout the apartment. In some room we install a port, roughly speaking, a plug for the battery from a screwdriver, and we still wait for the lights to turn off. During a power outage, we connect the Shurik battery to the backup network and no candles. It works for a very long time. And the most important thing is that you have a screwdriver to cope with two tasks. And for those who have problems with electricity, the screwdriver batteries can be charged in the car, or you can directly take power from the car.
I did it myself, I recommend it to everyone. Good luck!!!

Lithium cells cannot be connected this way - they need to be balanced, otherwise they will die very quickly. They also need to be charged through the charging and protection board. Lithium batteries are very dangerous if improperly charged and discharged. There may be a fire.
