How to make a reliable cable boss without casting

Motorcyclists, owners of walk-behind tractors, and other equipment, often encounter a broken gas or clutch cable. Usually the boss comes off, and the length of the cable allows it to still be used if it is restored. We offer a reliable way to do it yourself.

Super glue;
bolt or rod;
Bulgarian;
side cutters;
welding machine.

The process of cable repair and making a boss

After a break, a fringe of wire forms on the cable, which must be trimmed with side cutters.

Then you need to fasten it. To do this, drop superglue into the center of the twist and twist the cable so that the wire sticks together and does not unravel.

Now we select a bolt or rod whose diameter corresponds to the size of the required boss.

We saw off a piece of the required size from it. After that, we saw through it with a grinder in the center.

The width of the cut should allow the cable to be inserted into it.

Next, insert the cable into the cut so that a small tail remains on the back side. Then we squeeze the boss in a vice or beat it with a hammer. She must squeeze the cable.

And finally, all that remains is to drip welding onto the tip of the cable and onto the cut so that the boss does not straighten out. When using a semi-automatic machine, you don’t even have to clean the seam; everything will fall into place.
