A more reliable and cheaper alternative to broken mosquito net mounts

The plastic fasteners that hold the mosquito net may not withstand the wind pressure and break. In addition, they are weakened by heat in summer, and frost in winter. For a set of such fasteners in the store they charge up to 1000 rubles. A little expensive for a few pieces of plastic with holes, and there is no guarantee that the next strong wind they will not fail again.

How to replace fragile plastic fasteners?

The search for a more reliable alternative, which also costs nothing, was found in boxes with various “iron” change. These turned out to be galvanized clamps for clamping pipes with a diameter of 20 mm. Using pliers and a small hammer, we bend the ends of the staples inward, taking into account the thickness of the tension frame for the mosquito net, and install them in the same places where the plastic products were previously secured.

The new alternative fastening turned out to be more reliable than the plastic one, since the “tongue”, which we bent inward, additionally holds the mesh due to the elastic forces that arise in it when the frame of the mosquito net fits tightly.

This alternative mount is not afraid of any wind force or even a hurricane. It is not afraid of either the summer sun or winter frosts. The metal fasteners will last as long as possible until the mosquito net wears out or you decide to replace it with a new one.
