Cereal bag with transparent window
Comfortable, cute, practical cereal bags - good present for a caring housewife. Thanks to the Velcro closure, the cereal will not spill out, and the transparent window will show you if it’s time to replenish the stock. To sew a bright bag you will need thick cotton fabric, transparent plastic film and Velcro.
Also prepare threads, a needle, scissors, cardboard and a fabric marker. Decide on the size of the bag. To do this, take a package of cereal and measure its length and width. To the data obtained, add 2 cm to each wide side and the base of the package and 5 cm to the top side. For example, if a package of buckwheat has a size of 18x20 cm, then for the bag you need to draw a rectangle with sides of 22x27 cm. The pattern can be made directly on the fabric, or you can draw it on a sheet of cardboard - this way you can quickly sew many identical bags. Step back 5 cm from the bottom side of the rectangle and draw a 4x9 cm rectangle in the center of the piece. Cut out all the elements and transfer the pattern to the fabric.
To avoid making unnecessary cuts, if the size of the fabric allows, make a pattern for the back side of the bag next to the front side. Cut out the workpiece.
Cut out a rectangle-window and make diagonal cuts 1 cm deep at the corners.
Fold the edges inward and iron.
Thus, the size of the window on the bag will be 6x11 cm.
Cut out a rectangle measuring 8x12 cm from transparent plastic and sew it on the back of the bag.
Fold the parts of the product with the right side inward and, stepping back 2 mm from the fold line, lay a straight seam.
Unfold the workpiece. Fold the top edge 1 cm inward and press.
Sew on the Velcro.
Sew the side and base.
The next stage is the formation of a volumetric bottom. To do this, you need to combine the side seam and the base seam.
Step back 2 cm from the corner and sew a straight line.
Process the second corner in the same way.
Turn the bag inside out and iron it. Thanks to this bottom, the bag filled with cereals will stand steadily on a shelf or in a drawer.
The product can be decorated at your discretion. So, if there is some fabric left, make a bow or flower. You can also use multi-colored buttons, felt decorations and lace for decoration.
