Flowers made of threads in a homemade vase

Spring is not coming soon, but I really want to decorate my apartment with at least some flowers. You can, of course, buy half-dead cut plants at a flower shop, which will not last even a couple of days. Or you can harness all your creative potential and make an original decoration for your apartment. We present to your attention a master class on making flowers from knitting threads, which you can place in an unusual vase made from scrap materials.

For work, prepare the following components:
- knitting threads, two skeins of any color (for example, orange and red);
- a piece of thick cardboard;
- a tin can (coffee can be used);
- a piece of self-woven fabric;
- linen rope;
- fabric glue;
- scissors;
- long wooden skewers;
- decorative elements (ribbons, fabric appliqués).

Prepare for work

Step 1. Let's start making a decorative vase. Take a tin can and cut a piece of home-woven fabric (enough to wrap around the entire container and tuck it a little inside).

cut a piece of self-woven fabric

Glue the cut with fabric glue so that it completely covers the entire jar and tuck it inward by 3-4 centimeters.Wrap the bottom edge of the container with linen rope (1/3 of the jar) and tie a bow of twine near the top.

You can decorate the decorative vase at your own discretion. In the photo these are two multi-colored birds made of felt (you can also take a ready-made applique).

Step 2. Now we move on to making flowers from knitting threads. To begin, you need to cut out two stencils from thick cardboard (as shown in the photo). One of them is large (9 cm in diameter), and the other is smaller (6 cm). As you can see, there are 8 small squares on the rings.

cut two stencils

For each flower you need to choose two shades that match the color scheme, but are slightly contrasting. In the photo it is orange and red. So, we take a small blank and a red thread and begin to form a flower. To do this, you need to intertwine opposite squares with thread. The thread should lie in a figure eight pattern, crossing the center. You need to make 3-4 turns.

choose two shades

Now you move to the adjacent square and intertwine with the one parallel to it.

move to the next square

So you should have weaves through 4 pairs of squares.

get intertwined

Turn the workpiece over and secure the two ends of the working thread. You need to tie up all the intersections of the threads that appear in the center of the circle. If you don't do this, they will fall apart when you remove the coils from the stencil.

Turn the workpiece over

Remove the threads from each square. This is how the flower turns out.

Using the same principle, make a flower from orange thread, only on a large stencil.

Glue the small red flower onto the large one. The result is a lush preparation.

This flower is made from green and light green threads.

Make 5 of these blanks in total. Can be multi-colored.

Step 3. Let's move on to forming the composition. Place each flower on the sharp edge of a wooden skewer.

composition formation

Place a napkin in the vase, which will fix the flowers inside the container (you can attach them using plasticine).

Secure all the flowers in the vase. This is such a bright composition.
