I really love working with linen rope and paper thread. If you take an ordinary tin can (from canned fish or condensed milk) and paste it in a spiral with such thread, plus add burlap and lace to the work, you can get an excellent vase in a vintage style. A topiary trunk made from twine also looks great. Openwork napkins and coasters for hot dishes look beautiful. I didn’t stop there and decided to make a toy from linen thread. It bends easily, weaves, sticks quickly and looks great. Since the symbol of the coming year is a goat, I made a couple of obstinate goats. And I submit this master class for your evaluation.
For crafts you will need the following material:
- linen rope, paper thread;
- scissors and stationery knife;
- PVA glue;
- a piece of cardboard or a book (notepad);
- cuts of fabric.
First you need to take a piece of thick cardboard or any other base (notebook, book, candy box). The height of the cardboard will determine the size of the craft. We will wind linen thread on this base. You need to make about 20 turns around the cardboard.
Now we take a stationery knife and carefully cut off the bottom edge, and with the other hand we hold the threads from above so that they do not fall apart.On top (in the middle) the segments must be tied with thread.
Now he moves on to making the second blank. Again, take the cardboard base, wind it 20 turns, cut off the bottom and tie it in the middle.
To make horns and ears for goats, we will take paper thread for work. Cut three strands 25 cm long and weave them into a tight braid with two knots at the ends. We tie the workpiece in the form of a bow, only “upside down”. The result is long horns and oval ears.
We attach this inverted bow to the middle of the piece of twine. At this stage you also need to make a muzzle. To do this, we form a skein of linen rope, a total of 5 turns 3.5 cm long. We attach it near the horns and form the animal’s head. Just tie it with thread.
Next, we separate three threads from the right and left and weave braids - these will be the “handles” of the goats. You just need to make sure that they are of a length that is proportional to the entire size of the toy. You also need to tie the waist with thread.
The girl goat is ready, she still has her skirt. But the guy goat must have “legs”. To do this, divide the remaining threads in half and wrap them in a spiral with paper thread.
All that remains is to revive the characters: glue their eyes and sew outfits.
The girl receives a beautiful purple sundress and cute bows on her horns. But for the guy you need to sew pants and a shirt. These funny goat toys are made from linen twine and paper thread.
