Eggshell mosaic “Rainbow Umbrella”
This fascinating master class is aimed at children in its simplicity, but is suitable for all creative people. Folding such a mosaic will bring a lot of pleasure, and a craft made using this technique will become a real work of art.
Materials for the master class:
- eggshells, from raw eggs;
- acrylic paints and brush;
- a sheet of cardboard;
- PVA glue;
- toothpick;
- acrylic primer, self-leveling contour, single-phase craquelure varnish, acrylic varnish, if possible.
1. Prime a sheet of cardboard using a special acrylic primer, and if it is not available, use white acrylic paint.
2. Draw the initial sketch of the umbrella, for this we use a pencil to make basic sketches.
3. Draw the hat of the umbrella in more detail, dividing it into six parts.
4. Use an eraser to remove unnecessary strokes and draw the handle of the umbrella.
5. Draw a rim on the hat of the umbrella; if the sketch turns out smooth and beautiful, you can draw the outline by pressing on the pencil.
6. Using a special outline or black paint, we draw the main boundaries of our sketch.
7. Using red paint, we begin to paint the first segment of the umbrella.
8. Then, using paints of orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, we paint the remaining segments of our umbrella.
9. Wash raw eggshells and remove the white membrane.
10. Using acrylic paints, paint the shell in the same colors as the umbrella segments.
11. After the paint has dried on the eggshell, crumble it into small pieces.
12. Using a toothpick, begin to place red eggshells on the red segment of the umbrella.
13. In the same order, lay out the orange and yellow shells.
14. We finish laying out the colored mosaic on the umbrella, using green, blue and purple shells.
15. Chop black eggshells into small pieces and, using a toothpick, begin to lay them around the perimeter of the umbrella on PVA glue.
16. We lay out the umbrella handle more tightly using black eggshells.
17. The next step is to paint the general background of our picture, in which we will use single-phase crackle varnish, and if it is not available, we will use blue paint.
18. Paint the background with silver paint and wait for it to dry.
19. If during the process you accidentally painted over the outline, you can remove unnecessary paint using a cotton swab.
20. As soon as the paint is completely dry, apply a layer of one-step craquelure varnish, placing strokes horizontally on the surface.
21. As soon as the varnish begins to die, but remains sticky, place strokes of blue paint vertically relative to the surface.
22. We decorate the edges of the umbrella with rhinestones, imitating raindrops.
23. If desired, for durability, cover the top of the work with acrylic varnish.
Our mosaic is ready, now you can put it in a frame and enjoy the work done. We wish you creative success!
