Garlic costume
Today I decided to share how I created a garlic costume for my son for an autumn matinee. The work took about two hours, and the final result can be seen in the photo.
What is necessary?
So, before you start creating, you should go shopping and purchase:
• a white Panama hat or beret (I still have it from the summer);
• green scarf;
• narrow green ribbon (preferably matching the scarf) – one meter;
• transparent cellophane bag;
• cotton wool – 50 grams;
• khaki threads;
• scraps of thread for knitting or embroidering, yellow;
• PVA glue;
• white border tape – two meters;
• regular white shirt;
• black classic trousers.
Work process
1. So, first of all, you need to trim the green scarf with a white border. Next, we trim the bottom of the Panama hat with green tape.
2. We make garlic: we make a tight ball from a small amount of cotton wool and place it in a cellophane bag. Now we tie the ends with khaki thread so that the cotton wool does not fall out. Then we intercept the ball with a thread exactly in the middle, wrap the tail with thread again, and do it crosswise. In this way we make cloves of garlic and tie the thread tightly on the tail.For the beard, finely chop the yellow threads. At the intersection of the threads, lubricate with glue and attach them in a chaotic manner.
3. In this way we make as many heads of garlic as necessary. I made seven pieces: three for the beret, and four for the belt (two garlic cloves at each end).
4. Next, there is absolutely nothing left: we attach the garlic to the products.
5. Assembling the costume: the child put on black trousers (they symbolize the land in which garlic grows), a white shirt (the main color of the vegetable), a scarf belt (we tie it in a beautiful knot, leaving the ends hanging), and a beret on his head.
The costume turned out to be original and beautiful, at the matinee they asked me where I rented such a nice set. And even those who have little time can do it, and creativity is not a hobby. Good luck!
