Educational textile book
The process of making an educational book for a baby is a simple and very exciting activity that even needlewomen with minimal sewing skills can do. All he needs is pieces of fabric, padding polyester, various little things for needlework and, most importantly, love for your child and a great desire to make a very useful and interesting thing for him - a book with which he will play, a toy, thanks which will develop.
Before you start working, you need to decide on the topic of the educational book. These can be geometric shapes, animals, ocean inhabitants, cartoon characters, heroes of favorite fairy tales, etc.
Based on the theme, you need to come up with a background for the pages, and, based on the idea, select the necessary cuts of fabric. At the same time, you can find some interesting fabric for book covers.
When all the fabrics have been selected and prepared (ironed, cut), you can begin preparing the pages and covers. It is as follows. If the background of the page (cover) involves a combination of several fabrics (for example, the sky and the lawn), they should be sewn together into a single fabric, the seams should be ironed, and the whole page should be stitched onto a thin padding polyester.
After all the pages are completely ready, you can begin the most important and interesting thing - making the characters of the book. At the same stage, you need to design the background of the pages into a full-fledged scene or landscape.
It is important to remember that the child must play with the book; accordingly, its numerous parts and details should contribute to this. For example, heroes can be attached to a “burdock” tape or attached with buttons, landscape elements should encourage the reader of the book to touch them, bend them, move them away, some small heroes or elements can be hidden behind them (under them). Game moments (the opportunity to play some kind of fairy tale or story on the pages of a book), specific actions leading to results (for example, pulling out or putting a carrot in a bunny’s basket), discovering something new and surprising (for example, finding a ladybug under a leaf or someone’s hole behind the hill) - everything in the book should attract the child, please him, delight him, make him laugh.
Each page of the book must be thought out to the smallest detail, because it has an important function - to teach the child. Let there be not just blue sky and green grass on the page, but, for example, a rainbow, clouds with raindrops, numerous bright flowers, and let all this be touchable. Let the hero live a whole story on his page, for example, celebrate his birthday or go fishing. And let the character himself be interesting for the child - made of different materials, with an animated face, bright, kind, cheerful - the little reader will not want to let him out of his hands and will play in his new book with great pleasure. And if so, the goal of creating the book will be achieved. While playing, the child will learn new things, learn, and develop.
After all the covers and pages of the book have been prepared, they need to be laid out sequentially in pairs. This is how they will be connected to each other into a single product.
Each pair of pages should be basted together along the entire perimeter and edged with tape along the top, side and bottom.
Then all the pages are folded together at the binding site and edged on top. This completes the production of the book.
