Felt bookmark
Sewing a bookmark for books from felt is not difficult, since felt is a very convenient material that is easy to cut with scissors and does not fray. For sewing bookmarks, it is better to take hard Korean felt with a thickness of 1.2 mm.
We prepare materials. For such a beautiful product in the form of a bookmark, we will need: brown felt, three shades of green, light pink, dark pink felt and a beautiful flower button.
Cut out two rectangles from brown felt, 20 cm long and 4.5 cm wide.
We draw two circles with a compass: one with a diameter of 6 cm, the second with a diameter of 2 cm. We get two circle patterns - a large one and a small one.
From light pink felt we cut out two parts, attaching the pattern of a larger circle (6 cm), and from dark pink felt we cut out 5 parts according to the pattern of a small circle.
Draw a pattern for leaves about 3 cm long.
Place the pattern on green felt and cut out 7 leaves to create leaves of different shades of green.
We fold the thread into four threads and embroider the leaf veins with a chain stitch. We take the same thread for all leaves, preferably a contrasting one.
To embroider with a chain stitch, you need to bring the thread to the front side of the part.
Inserting the needle into the same place from which the thread was pulled out, we pull the needle forward, bringing it to the front side while making a loop.
Thus, we make four loops on the leaf.
We embroider 1-2 more loops to the sides from the middle of the chain stitch chain to make the leaf more beautiful.
Now we move on to the design of the flower, sew a flower-shaped button to the middle of one of the parts of the larger circle.
We attach small circles (petals) to the larger circle, and put a circle with a button on top. We mark with chalk five lines that go from the button to the petals.
Along the marked lines, we embroider three loops of the chain using a chain stitch.
We place the embroidered leaves on the brown trunk and pin them together.
We sew the leaves on a sewing machine, choosing threads to match the petal.
We fold two brown trunks inside out and sew around the perimeter using a sewing machine.
Place the trunk with leaves on the light pink circle approximately in the middle.
On top we put an embroidered circle with a flower.
Next, you need to put 5 petals under the top circle and pin them with pins.
Sew around the perimeter of the circle using a sewing machine, connecting all the parts of the product together.
This is how the bookmark turned out; it will fit perfectly into the interior of the bookshelf and will remind you of the book to read.
