Homemade dismountable swing from old auto parts and pipes
If you want to make a collapsible swing, you can use old car parts in addition to pipes. This will reduce the cost of the design, and most importantly make it reliable and trouble-free. Let's look at how you can weld a swing at home using pipes and parts from a front-wheel drive car.

To make the rotation axis of the swing, you will need a pipe and front wheel drive shafts. They are welded inside the pipe with the slots facing out.



Next, their standard boots are pulled onto the splines of the welded shafts, then they are inserted into the steering knuckles with hubs. As a result, the pipe can rotate freely while being held in the fists.
To give rigidity to the structure, you need to make a crossbar connecting the steering knuckles. It is a pipe with eyes welded on the edges from scraps of corners and plates. Holes are made in them through which fists can be screwed.



The frame of the swing is made of pipes.

To make it collapsible, it is necessary to select, in addition to the main pipes, also tubes of a slightly smaller diameter that can fit into them with lapping.

The side posts are assembled in the shape of a triangle, and the sole is a rectangle. To do this, 2 pieces of small-diameter pipe are welded to the ends of the 2 sides of the sole in 90-degree increments. They will be used to join the sole bridges and attach the triangular side posts. In this case, the pins for the racks should be inclined inward. You also need to weld a pair of connecting brackets for the tops of the triangular side posts from a corner and two scraps of thin tubes.



The swing assembly looks like this. First you need to install the soles on the tubes one by one with the pins along the edges of the side strut tubes. The racks are connected at the top with brackets.


After this, the racks are connected to each other by sole pipes, which are stuffed onto the remaining pins.


Then the steering knuckles are screwed onto the corners of the brackets holding the rack at the top. A rotating axle is inserted into them, and they are fixed on top with a crossbar with eyes.

After this, the suspension tubes of the swing chair are welded to the rotary axis. The chair itself is welded from a corner, and its seat and back are made of wood. It is better to mount it on 4 hangers so that it does not swing to the sides.



Such a swing will be an ideal solution for a summer house. They can be assembled for the period of vacation, and upon its completion, disassembled and hidden. The rigidity of the swing is enough to install a wide bench for several people instead of a single chair.
