How to make a cherry pitter from a syringe
To remove pits from cherries, you can make a homemade device from a disposable syringe. It is simple to make, but works very effectively. With its help, it will be possible to process more berries than by hand.
Materials:
- syringe 20 cc;
- rubber band for money.
Device manufacturing process
After removing the piston from the syringe barrel, you need to cut off its tip.
Next, a hole is drilled in the end near the removed tip.
It should be slightly larger than the diameter of the cherry pit.
Then a window is cut out on the side of the syringe barrel to insert the berries. It is convenient to do this with a mounting or stationery knife.
It is cut from the bottom of the cylinder to the 6 cc mark. The width of the window should allow for convenient placement of fruit, but without a significant margin, since excessively cut walls will reduce the strength of the structure.
The rubber piston is removed from the syringe rod. Next you need to cut off the plastic piston stops.
Then, approximately to the middle, the rod ribs are partially cut along.Moreover, for two opposite ones, the transverse cut is performed at an acute angle.
In the dismantled rubber piston, a hole is cut to fit the diameter of the narrow part of the cut rod.
He should enter through it without clinging. The piston is then pressed into the syringe barrel above the cut out window. It will serve as a guide. When installing the rod, it is important that it passes through the piston without obstruction.
Next, you need to place the rubber ring onto the syringe barrel by the finger rests so as to leave 2 loops. They should catch on to the protrusions previously made on the rod. Thus, if you press the rod and then release it, it will return back due to the elastic band.
The rubber band will pull the piston back after releasing the finger.
By placing a berry in a syringe and pressing the stem, you can gently, quickly and without splashing juice squeeze the seed out of it. This is done by pressing the thumb. Immediately after this, the rubber band will return the stem, and the seedless berry will fall out.
Making such a device will take at most 20 minutes, and if there are a lot of berries, it can reduce the processing of cherries by a couple of hours. The plastic on the syringe is absolutely chemically neutral, so it can safely come into contact with food. After operating the device for 2-3 minutes, you can practice the movements until they become automatic and begin processing cherries at conveyor speed.
