How to get rid of weeds in a flower bed with a 50-year guarantee
Having a flower bed with flowers and shrubs on the site, you have to periodically weed it to remove weeds. To solve this problem once and for all without damaging the appearance of the landscape of the site, you can mulch with gravel.
Materials:
- gravel;
- dense geotextiles;
- staples made of thick wire.
The process of mulching a flower bed
Before mulching, you need to clear and level the area. Then dense high-quality geotextiles are laid on it. Where the rolls overlap, they need to be pinned to the ground with wire staples. It is important to prevent the edges from tucking in the future.
Gravel is poured onto the laid geotextile and leveled. Since it does not lie on the ground, it is not pressed in or mixed with the ground. Such mulch will lie on the site until the geotextile decomposes, which will take decades.
Over time, the gravel will become powdered with dust, which will wash off onto the geotextile. The result will be a thin fertile layer on which flowers can be planted.You can also cut holes in the geotextile and plant roses or other perennial ornamental plants in them.
If over time the rains wash a lot of soil onto the mulch, then the gravel can be collected from the substrate and washed. If necessary, the geotextile is re-layered and the gravel is backfilled.
