How I hung wallpaper in a three-room apartment alone
Last spring, I had an urgent need to make cosmetic repairs to my recently purchased apartment. Due to the fact that the living space was simply planned to be rented out, the amount of repairs was very limited. Over the course of the week, I invited and met with a large number of specialists. Everyone gave different amounts and terms, but not a single offer satisfied me, and then I decided to do all the repairs myself. It was decided to use the simplest approach. Lay linoleum on the floor. Cover the walls with paper wallpaper. Order a suspended ceiling, as it is beautiful and very fast.
All work, except for wallpapering, required the involvement of additional people. The linoleum had to be lifted with someone, and then rolled out across the rooms. I immediately decided to entrust the installation of suspended ceilings to professionals, so the first thing I did was hang wallpaper. Contrary to the advice of the craftsmen, it was decided not to plaster the walls, but simply coat them with a deep penetration primer.
I bought glue and wallpaper, the simplest ones were paper. Armed himself with rags, sponges, scissors, rollers, buckets, a level and a stepladder.I did not cover the floors, but laid a film on the floor on which I applied glue to the wallpaper. Having gathered my thoughts and leaving behind all prejudices about possible failure, I got down to business. The process of wallpapering turned out to be surprisingly very simple, although monotonous.
The area of the apartment is one hundred square meters. At the same time, all the rooms in it are approximately the same in square footage. In total, it took me ten days of continuous work to complete three rooms, a kitchen and a corridor. Seventy rolls of wallpaper were cut and glued onto pre-primed walls. The cost savings were enormous. The amount was ten times lower than what the most modest craftsmen asked for. As a result, this difference was spent on the purchase of linoleum and suspended ceilings. Not bad, I think.
