How to make a light stand for skewers for picnics and hikes
In order not to carry around a barbecue or bricks for installing skewers, you can make a small folding metal stand for them. It is quite light, so it is useful even for hiking picnics.
Materials:
- steel strip 20x4 mm;
- square 8x8 mm;
- rivets – 4 pcs.
Stand manufacturing process
The strip needs to be cut in half lengthwise, leaving 5 mm tails of normal width along the edges. You will need 2 such blanks.
Their length is calculated according to the number of skewers.
Holes are drilled along the edges of the workpieces.
Next, you need to cut seats for skewers on them, making an indent of 5-7 cm. A small cut is enough so as not to significantly reduce the strength of the strips.
4 blanks of 20 cm each are cut out of the square. On one side they need to be drilled from the edge. The end with the hole is cut from the end with a grinder to a depth of 10-12 mm.
The squares are combined with the stripes and riveted.
The result is 2 stands with foldable legs. They are inserted into the ground on the sides of the fire, and skewers are placed on them.The height of the stand when the legs are immersed in the ground by 7 cm just corresponds to two bricks. That is, you will need very little coal for frying.
