How to make a beautiful frame for window or door openings
From the street, door and window openings can be plastered with cement mortar. This type of finishing is very cheap in terms of material costs, but allows you to simply transform the facade. Such work at first glance looks complicated, but you can handle it on your own if you follow a proven scheme and mix the plaster correctly.
To work, you need to prepare thick plaster. To do this, cement and sand are added in a ratio of 1:3. Everything is mixed dry, then 0.5 parts of water are poured in. As mixing progresses, it is added little by little until the thickness of the plaster is optimal.
To make a frame around the opening, you need to apply a thick layer of plaster to the required width on the wall. You need to adjust the thickness of the mortar using rules or even wooden slats. The latter adhere very well to plaster. You need to attach 2 slats sideways on both sides of the framing line.Then the solution is poured between them and smoothed.
It is necessary to create a plane between the beacon slats. Then clean, dry cement is rubbed into the plaster. It will strengthen the surface, make it harder and more resistant to moisture. It will be like concrete. The cement will immediately pick up water from the plaster and become wet so it can be easily ground. You can create an ideal plane by running a wide smoothing iron resting on the beacon slats.
Next you need to bring out the side surface of the frame. To do this, the slats are removed. One of them is applied flush with the edge of the front smooth side. Then plaster, and then dry cement, are applied to the sidewall and smoothed.
After removing the planes, you need to smooth everything out again, applying a lath so that the tool is not pressed into the plaster more than required. Finally, you can make decorative grooves on the frame. To do this, apply a lath, and the plaster is cut along it, as if under a ruler, with a thin trowel or other suitable tools.
Then you need to let the plaster dry. If necessary, it should be protected from direct sunlight.
After drying, the frames can be painted with facade paint. If there are any flaws, they can be easily sanded off when the solution dries slightly.
What you will need:
- cement M400;
