How to make a remote control console from an old radio bell

Surely you have a Chinese radio bell lying around in your bins. At one time they were very popular, but as it turned out, they were not entirely practical due to the high cost of batteries. Although some still use them today.

And so, we take the bell out of the closet. First of all, we disassemble the button and measure the voltage of the battery, checking its inoperability. Or we change it immediately without measurements.

Close the lid and secure it with screws.

Next, we disassemble the bell body itself.

Unscrew the board.

To understand what's what, let's figure it out. There are 2 microcircuits installed on the board. To understand what each microcircuit is responsible for, you can search the Internet for datasheets on them. In this example, the one in the photo is the receiver circuit.

And the other smaller one is a melody synthesizer.That is, a signal is sent to it from the receiver chip, and it, in turn, plays a melody.

We unsolder the speaker contacts and unsolder the synthesizer chip.

Now at random using multimeter you need to find contacts in which a high level of 3 V appears when you press the button.

Solder the wires to them.

We install an audio connector into the case for easy connection.

Solder the wires.

Close the bell cover and secure it with screws. We install new batteries.

At this point, the universal remote control attachment is ready.

To check, we connect as a load Light-emitting diode.

And when you press the button you can clearly see how it lights up.

The reception range is up to 150 meters. You can connect a solid-state relay to the input of the set-top box and control the network load. Or an optocoupler and control an electronic device. Also, this console is great for jokes and practical jokes.
