How to make a manual ring bending machine from a pipe and profile
Steel rings are used to decorate metal gates, fences, gates, balusters of stairs and balconies. They are welded between the rods, allowing you to get an original, beautiful lattice. Such rings are inexpensive, but since hundreds of them are often needed, the purchase costs a significant amount. To save money, you can make a simple bending machine and bend such rings from strips or rods, which is several times cheaper.
Materials:
- Steel pipe equal to the diameter of the required rings;
- rod 8 mm;
- profile pipe 20x20 mm;
- corner 30x30 mm.
Machine manufacturing process
It is necessary to select a pipe equal to the diameter of the rings that need to be obtained. A workpiece 20-25 mm wide is cut from it.
It unfolds lengthwise and stretches to fit snugly on top of the pipe.
A profile pipe is welded to the resulting expanded ring above the gap. This will be the bending lever. The longer it turns out, the less effort will need to be applied when bending the rings.
A hole is drilled in the pipe in front of the ring. A piece of rod with a diameter of 8-10 mm is inserted into it and welded.It should protrude from the pipe on one side by 20 mm.
Next you need to take a 100 mm piece of corner. A metal plate is welded to its edge at a right angle across the entire width of the shelf. A pipe 150-200 mm long is welded on top of the corner. The gap between it and the plate should be 10 mm.
Half of the machine with an angle is clamped in a vice. Then a ring with a lever is put on from the top of the fingers downwards. To perform a bend, it is necessary to lay a strip of steel or a rod obliquely upward between the pipe and the plate. The workpiece is caught by the finger of the lever, and it is wound.
The resulting spring is sawn lengthwise.
As a result, you can get several rings at a time. They are trimmed with a hammer and their edges are welded. Then the rings can be used for their intended purpose.
