How to Make a Tool to Remove Large Weeds Easily
To combat large weeds, you can make a specially designed tool. It allows you to grab the trunk of a large weed and pull it out by the roots without damaging the surrounding plants. You can also use it to dig up seedlings for transplanting.
Materials:
- Reinforcement 10 mm;
- corner 25x25 mm;
- pipe 20x20 mm;
- strip 20 mm;
- Sheet steel;
- bolts, nuts M8.
The process of making a convenient weed removal tool
From two pieces of reinforcement 150 mm each, it is necessary to make identical hooks by bending them with a hammer.
A piece of angle 40 mm long, with a drilled hole of 8 mm, is welded to them. It is important that the direction of the bends of the hooks relative to the corners is the same as in the photo.
In a profile pipe equal in length to the handle of a shovel, it is necessary to cut the end at an acute angle. Then a strip is welded on top of it. It should protrude forward by 20-30 mm. The weld seam must be cleaned.
The protruding strip is cut off at the corners to create a point. Then it needs to be sharpened by making one-sided descents.
Now you need to drill through the side of the pipe to screw the hooks through the corners. The drilling location is selected so that the edges of the hooks reach the tip of the lance on the pipe. Then the workpieces are tightened with a bolt, but not too much, so that it acts as an axis of rotation.
A knife with two notches, cut from sheet steel, is welded onto the edges of the hooks.
A corner is welded onto the reverse side for rigidity. After this, you need to weld a foot rest, made in the form of a corner with one wide shelf.
After this, the tool can be used for its intended purpose.
It is necessary to place its peak at the base of the plant trunk and press the pedal. As a result, the tool will go deeper and will work as a lever, grabbing the plant.
