How to make a simple 12-220 V inverter with a power of 2500 W and a frequency of 50 Hz

The inverter is designed to produce 220-volt alternating voltage from low direct voltage. Connects to any 12-volt source, incl. to the car battery through the cigarette lighter socket. The load power can reach 2500 W and is limited primarily by the power of the output transformer and the load capacity of the cigarette lighter socket.

The inverter is interesting because:
  • simple from a circuit design point of view;
  • requires minimal adjustment;
  • assembled from available components.

Electrical circuit of the inverter

An integrated controlled multivibrator CD4047BD with elements for adjusting the repetition rate of generated pulses is used as a key component of the device; the power part is assembled on paired field-effect transistors. To obtain an output voltage of 220 V, a step-up transformer is used, the inputs of the primary windings of which are connected directly to the terminals D (drains) of the power transistor assemblies.

Power final stages A are assembled on paired field-effect transistors.The final stage circuit is shown below.

How to make a simple 12-220 V inverter with a power of 2500 W and a frequency of 50 Hz

200-ohm resistors in the gate circuit ensure equalization of currents across individual transistors.

Electronic components used in the device

To assemble the circuit you need:

Features of assembling and setting up the inverter circuit

It is recommended to mount the components of the low-current part of the circuit on a printed circuit board. To install a multivibrator microcircuit, it is advisable to use a 14 or 16-pin mounting block.

Field-effect transistors of power modules “A” are installed in one or two rows on a copper or aluminum radiator. In the case of an in-line installation, its functions may well be performed by a block about 10 cm long and with a cross-section of 1.5 x 1.5 cm, in which holes are drilled and tapped for attaching transistors “for screws”.

Part of the circuit is assembled by surface mounting.

The transformer was taken from a broken uninterruptible power supply.

Solder the board to the transistors.

When setting up the circuit with a variable resistor, the pulse generation frequency is set to 50 Hz.

There is some difference in the shape of the output voltage from the sinusoidal one, because The CD4047BD multivibrator generates rectangular pulses, the fronts of which are partially smoothed by a transformer.The increased coefficient of nonlinear distortion does not matter for the bulk of the loads.

    Well, what is the load capacity of the cigarette lighter socket? Will it handle 50 watts?
    And the wires with a cross-section of 1-1.5 sq. mm, which are soldered to the legs of the power transistors, do not cause anything but an ironic smile.

    Such a trance will never push out 2500W; at 50Hz (and even a meander) you need a trance the size of a suitcase.

    The scheme doesn't work at all. I didn’t bother calculating or checking anything, I soldered everything with a hinge. The battery seems to produce 13 V. I connect all this - the minus heats up like God knows what, the result is 0. Of course, it’s possible that I made a mistake somewhere, but I checked it like 500 times...The output is nothing (((

      A normal person will first check the operation of the generator, and only then will load the circuit onto the transformer. Your “experience” is felt.
      Correction: the scheme does not work only for you.

    I'm going to think that the diagram is (sort of) correct, unlike the pictures of the field workers' assembly and the video....

    So... The generator circuit is undoubtedly working. But ! Don’t even think about collecting and hoping for success! In reality, the shoulders on the field switches will, of course, open, but if a sufficiently powerful current flows, they will remain open.
    It is not for nothing that the author did not show the battery itself and the power from it either in the photo or in the video... Is the reason clear? smile

    you have a power of only 400 W because the trans is 20 cm kV and if you do it at 4 kW I take 3 trans from microwave ovens and this is already 4 kg of weight and transistors IRF2804 40V 75A 2 mOhm on Alika cost 20 rubles

    from the power supply (charging the battery) it worked. I connected it to the battery and all the transistors went...

    Is it weak without trance?! If you strain your brain a little, the load, for example a drill, is trance....why the extra losses?

    There is only one question left, where to get a microcircuit and transistors with a real specification, otherwise it’s unlikely that even 50% of the Chinese ones will work with a real specification
