How to remove gaps on laminate flooring without dismantling
Old laminate, engineered plank, or interlocking vinyl tile may show gaps between the slats that weren't there originally. This is a consequence of the linear expansion of the floor covering. Such gaps can be removed without disassembling the floor.
What you will need:
- Hammer;
- wooden block;
- double sided tape;
- bracket for laying laminate flooring.
Gap Repair Process
Before removing the gap, you need to clean it of dirt and then vacuum it. If dust and debris remain, the lock will not close completely.
Along the lamella that needs to be tacked, a block is glued with double-sided tape.
Then he is pressed down with his foot and knocked from the end with a hammer until the lock closes.
You can then tear off the block using a staple for laying laminate flooring.
How to move laminate flooring away from the wall
If you need to move the shortest lamella under the wall, then the block is glued across just under the baseboard. It must be pressed from above with your foot, after placing a bracket so as to pick up the block.Then, by hitting its second hook with a hammer, you can move the lamella until the lock is closed.
You can also move the outermost lamella without knocking the bracket, but use it as a lever, resting against a wall or baseboard. To avoid leaving a dent on them, a hard lining is used. This could be a second bracket or rail.
