How to restore completely dried out brushes

It is incredibly difficult to bring a brush that has not been cleared of paint back to life in time. But with some tools and time at hand, this process can be simplified and ultimately achieve an excellent result. In principle, even a high school student can cope with such work.

Will need

  • paint and varnish removers;
  • mild liquid fabric conditioner;
  • plastic bag;
  • hair brush with scraper;
  • running water;
  • latex gloves.

The process of cleaning a brush from dried paint

Place the brush with dried paint in a plastic bag and generously moisten the bristles of the brush with paint remover containing safinol. We wrap the bag tightly around the brush, achieving maximum tightness, and leave for 24 hours.

Unwind the bag in the sink under the tap. It can be seen that the paint has noticeably softened.

Turn on the tap and, under running water, intensively rub the bristles of the brush with a hair brush with a scraper on all sides.

Some of the paint, especially from the surface of the brush bristles, is mechanically removed, dissolved and washed down the drain with water. However, a sufficient amount of softened, thick paint remained inside the brush.

Now let's use the original semi-liquid paste to remove paint and varnish. Pour it into a container that can freely accommodate the bristly part of the brush with the remaining paint. We soak the bristles of the brush generously with this product and leave for 4 hours.

Then, using the same brush under running water, intensively clean the brush and wash off the paint with water. After some time, we see that the bristles throughout the entire volume are free of paint and look almost like new.

To give the cleaned bristles softness and elasticity, pour a gentle liquid fabric conditioner into a wide bowl, dilute it halfway with water and, dipping the brush into this product, rub it on all sides. Then leave the brush to absorb the product for 2 hours.

Finally, rinse the brush soaked in conditioner with running water until it is completely removed.

The brush became clean, soft and elastic, like new.

    Of course, if the brush was handmade, and by a very famous master, then YES! And so the game is not worth the candle...
