Is the DVR suction cup falling off? An easy way to secure it tightly
Many drivers install DVRs, radar detectors and other equipment on the windshields of their cars. Such devices are held in place by a suction cup, which over time begins to weaken and fall off. By making a small modification to the suction cup, you can increase its adhesion to glass many times over.
What you will need:
- engine oil;
- Old car camera;
- scissors
The process of securely gluing the suction cup
In order for the suction cup to hold well, it and the surface of the glass must be cleaned of dirt and dust. Such particles do not allow for close contact, causing the negative pressure under the suction cup to slowly release and it to fall off.
1 way. In order for the suction cup to stick better, its surface around its circumference must be lubricated with a thin layer of motor oil.When pressed, it fills micropores and, due to its surface tension, will not allow air to pass through. Oil, unlike water, saliva or alcohol, does not evaporate, so it will perform its function for years.
Method 2. Some suction cups, especially those that have been used for a long time, have play on the clamp lever. This suggests that the device itself is not working at full capacity. By pressing down on the suction cup and pressing the lever, you can sometimes feel that the tightening occurs only at the end. In this case, the suction cup can be modified by removing the idle speed. We cut out a gasket in the form of a washer for a suction cup from the car inner tube, and place it between the rubber and the plastic clamp.After such modification, the idle speed of the lever decreases and the clamping force increases. The gasket in combination with oil and clean glass is guaranteed to prevent the suction cup from falling off.
