How to join a wool thread without a knot or thickening

When knitting with wool threads, you may need to attach a new skein to the yarn. Knowing this method, it is easy to do without a knot or thickening. The splice area will be completely invisible and will be durable.

What you will need:

  • Scissors;
  • water;
  • plastic cap.

Thread splicing process

The ends of the threads for splicing must be separated in half to a length of 3 fingers. Next, you need to fold the loose ends from the two yarns together and trim them so that they are the same length.

After this, we take each half separately and apply it to a flat surface, for example, a plastic lid, and fluff it up. Just scrape the thread away from you with scissors, and its fibers will fluff up.

Yarns with fluffed halves are folded overlapping towards each other.

Now we take and roll the joint in our palms.

After light rolling, the fluffed fibers are wetted with water.

Then they roll in your palms when they are already wet.

With this method, the felting is very dense and reliable. Externally, the splice site will be indistinguishable from a regular thread.
