Do-it-yourself battery auger drill
Drilling wells for installing poles or planting seedlings requires a lot of effort, especially on compacted soils. The task is greatly simplified if you use a cordless drill, since it does not need to be rotated. Making such a device with your own hands is not at all difficult.

Manufacturing process of cordless auger drill
As the power unit of the battery drill, you can use a motor with a built-in 24 V gearbox from an electric bicycle, and to power it, 2 small batteries of 12 V each.
Having estimated their size, a base is cut out from the sleeping plate on which all this can be placed. Then a paper template is cut out for the engine seat.
You need to transfer it to the plate and make the appropriate holes in it.
A frame is made from thinner, lightweight sheet steel to make a box to house the engine and batteries.
It must be welded onto the plate.
2 U-shaped handles are made from a steel strip. They are welded on the sides of the box. You also need to make a cover for the housing from thin-walled metal.
Then the parts are painted.
Now you need to start connecting the motor shaft to the earth auger. To do this, an adapter is made from a pipe of suitable diameter.
It is welded onto the motor shaft.
A transverse hole is drilled in the adapter, through which it can be fixed to the auger with a pin.
Next, the engine is secured in the box with bolts. After this, batteries are placed inside.
They need to be connected to the motor in series, including in the circuit a charging connector, which is located on the body, and a button mounted on the handle.
Now we close the housing with a lid and put the auger on the motor shaft, securing it with a pin.
After this, the tool is ready for use. The motor power is more than enough even for drilling in dense soil. With such equipment, installing poles will not end in back pain.
