How to make a twist waterproof
Regular electrical tape and heat-shrink tubing do not guarantee that the twisted wires will be completely airtight. If wiring is installed in a wet area, the connection must be made watertight to avoid short circuits.
What you will need:
- heat gun;
- heat-shrink tubing;
- gas-burner.
Hermetically sealed twist insulation process
The edges of the wires are stripped and twisted.
Hot glue is applied to the twist. You need to distribute it evenly, completely covering the exposed veins.
A heat-shrink tube is placed over the hot-melt adhesive on the wires.
It is seated with a torch or lighter.
The glue underneath will stick from the inside, thereby preventing the access of water and air to the joint.
After several hours in water, no leakage occurred.
