How to make a mold for molding two hollow blocks on cement at once
Purchasing ready-made cement-based blocks as wall materials will require large expenses. By making with your own hands a fairly simple mold for molding a couple of blocks at once, you can prepare the required amount of wall material and significantly save your family budget.
Will need
Materials:
- sheet metal remains;
- a piece of steel strip;
- a piece of round rod or reinforcement;
- cement, sand and water.
Tools: marking devices, grinder, welding machine, container for mixing the mixture and trowel.
The process of making a mold from metal and using it to form blocks on cement
From the remaining sheet metal we cut out three rectangular plates 19x39 cm, two 19x18.5 cm and one 40x19.5 cm.
We weld four box-shaped structures from two trapezoidal plates with a height of 19 cm and bases: bottom 15 cm, top 14 cm. The two side surfaces of the boxes at the same height have a width of 4 cm at the bottom and 3 cm at the top.
We place four boxes symmetrically on a horizontally laid plate 40x19.5 cm with the wide side down so that in the middle the distance between them is 2.5 cm in the transverse direction and 4.3 cm in the longitudinal direction. Once again we check the accuracy of installation of the boxes and weld them to the bottom base plate.
We install two plates 19×39 cm and 19×18.5 cm vertically on the ends of the base, weld them together (but not to the base!), strictly maintaining all four corners at 90 degrees.
We weld two pieces of strip 41 cm and 20.5 cm long along the contour of the base plate, having previously formed (beveled) the ends so that in the end they and the base look like a small trough.
In the middle, in the longitudinal direction, in the previously welded box, we place and weld a partition, which is located at a distance of 9.3 cm from the walls.
From the outside, we weld steel plates to the upper ends of the box for rigidity. We lay the box on the welded plates and cover the top with a base with an oblique flange.
We weld handles made of round rods or fittings bent into brackets to the flange on both sides. Towards them, with a gap of 2 cm, we weld exactly the same handles to the sides of the box.
We install the base with four box-shaped hollow structures on a horizontal surface. On top we place a rectangular box with a central jumper, which is centered relative to the base with an oblique flange.
Pour the mixture into the mold, placing it evenly over the entire area of the mold with a trowel, and shaking to compact it.
As a result, we get two blocks 39x09x19 cm.
After the mold is completely filled, turn it over and tap the mold on all sides with a trowel. Carefully lift and remove the base with the hole formers in the block.
For greater safety of the blocks, cover them with two strips with handles in the center, hold them with your thumbs and remove the box with the central jumper.
As a result, we get two exceptionally high-quality blocks.
