How to make a reliable stand for convenient sawing of boards and logs of different sizes
Handling logs, especially large ones, is incredibly physically difficult. Processing or sawing them becomes an almost impossible task until you make a reliable and simple stand-holder from waste materials, which does not require special knowledge and skills.
Will need
Materials:
- steel bar with a diameter of 14 mm;
- long rod with external thread;
- standard nuts;
- profile rectangular pipe;
- spray paint.
Tools: clamps, metal band saw, marking and measuring equipment, vice, drilling machine, welding, etc.
The process of making a holder stand for sawing logs
We cut the round rod into 13 pieces 35 cm long.

We lay them on a flat horizontal surface, trim the ends, draw a line at the calculated distance from one end and saw the segments along the drawn line.We sharpen one end of all the resulting workpieces using an oblique cut made with a band saw.
Cut a piece 32 cm long from a long rod with an external thread. Screw 11 standard hex nuts onto it, distributing them evenly along the entire length of the threaded section.
We weld 11 long rods to one of the faces of the prismatic part of all nuts, orienting the direction of the cuts upward. To ensure that the rods are parallel to each other, before welding the next long rod, we place short rods between them.

In two profile rectangular sections of pipes of the estimated length, we mark and drill one through hole closer to the edge. Also, from pipes of this profile and standard size, cutting the ends obliquely, we weld a rectangular frame, controlling the accuracy of the connection.
We insert the ends of a threaded rod with nuts and pointed rods welded to them into the holes of two profile pipes. We weld the specified parts.
In a section of profile pipe of a given length, we drill 11 holes with the same pitch. We insert short rods into them so that the sharp ends point upward and weld them firmly in place.
Then, in the transverse direction, we weld a section of a profile pipe between two long profile pipes, into the holes of which a section of a threaded rod with nuts and long rods is welded. Moreover, when the pointed rods are directed towards each other, we leave a small gap between them.

We install the racks with rods transversely on the long sides of the frame closer to one end so that the threaded rod with nuts and rods is at the top. We weld the racks to the frame. After painting in two colors according to ergonomic and operational considerations, our installation is ready for use.
To do this, it is enough to place a log or lumber between sharp rods, moving the upper ones to a certain angle and leaving a large mass on the supply side of the log. As a result, the deflected rods will dig into the short part of the log and fix it to the short rods. Now the log or lumber can be cut or some other operation can be performed.
