How to make a mini sandblaster using an aerosol can
An empty aerosol can is usually thrown away, but in vain. So, it can be adapted to make a small sandblasting device, which will not be superfluous in any home workshop.
Will need
Materials:
- empty aerosol can;
- fixing screws;
- steel round rod;
- pneumatic blow gun with extended nozzle;
- finely sifted sand;
- plastic cover.

The process of making a sandblasting machine from an aerosol can
We remove the protective cap of the aerosol can, press the spray head of the valve and make sure that it is empty. Using sandpaper, remove any remaining paint, inscriptions, and protective coating from the surface of the can.
In the bottom of the can, using a drill and a core drill, we make the largest possible hole in area.Using a semicircular file, we file down the edge formed after drilling.
On the spherical part of the lid and in the body of the can, we drill holes of equal diameter for a steel round rod, which, when inserted into the holes, should occupy a slightly inclined position relative to the vertical axis of the can and protrude beyond its limits by some distance.
In the metal rod we drill a through hole in the center in the direction of the longitudinal axis. Also, closer to one edge, we make a transverse through hole, in which we cut a thread, and screw in the fixing screws on both sides.
At some distance from the first transverse hole, we drill a second one, located orthogonally with respect to the first, but not through. Then we drill out the resulting hole with a drill of a obviously larger diameter.
We insert the rod into the can through the hole in the spherical part of the lid so that the fixing screws are positioned strictly horizontally and weld it to the edges of the hole in the can.
We unscrew the elongated nozzle from the blowing pneumatic gun and, at the calculated distance from the end of the nozzle, use a round file to make a transverse recess to the level of the longitudinal channel of the nozzle.
We insert the elongated nozzle of the pneumatic gun into the through channel of the rod so that the holes in the parts coincide. After this, we secure the position of the nozzle in the rod with two fixing screws.
We pour finely sifted sand into the aerosol can through the hole in the bottom, close the bottom with a plastic lid, and connect the blow gun to the compressor and turn it on.
Sand from the can through holes in the rod and nozzle enters the longitudinal channel and, picked up by compressed air, flies out of the nozzle at high speed, cleaning objects, workpieces or parts.
