Bottle decor “Golden sunflowers”
Beautiful things attract attention. And beautiful things made by hand are pleasing not only to the eyes, but also to the soul. There is no factory stereotypedness and facelessness in them, but there is always a place for creative imagination and a non-standard approach to standard things. And this is what makes the designer’s products so wonderful. Recently, one of the popular types of needlework is decorating ordinary items that each of us has in our homes: boxes, flower pots, kitchen utensils. I would like to offer my own version of the original decoration of a glass bottle.
For work we will need oil paints, an ordinary glass bottle, modeling clay, floss, wooden sticks (we break a dried branch of any tree), brushes, a stationery knife, super glue, scissors, varnish.
First we create the background - paint the bottle dark green. It suits the theme of the composition and perfectly highlights the main details. It is better to apply the paint in two or three layers so that it does not show through.
The oil takes a long time to dry and during this time you can prepare the jewelry.Cut a small piece from a block of clay and knead it in water until it becomes soft like plasticine. Now we sculpt the leaves and core of the sunflower separately. Until the clay has dried, it is very plastic, and all the parts are perfectly attached to each other. After the sunflower flower is made, we sculpt two or three large leaves from the remaining clay that will be attached to the stem. To prevent the clay from sticking to your hands while working, your fingers must be moistened with water from time to time. You can also use water to make the product smooth and hide fingerprints on the surface, but I intentionally left a little relief.
Within a day, the clay will dry and you can paint the products with oil paints (they are brighter and more saturated) or gouache (it dries quickly).
Now, using a stationery knife, cut the dry branch into small sticks - about 3 cm in length (I did this in advance). We carefully tie the wooden sticks with floss threads to create a kind of fence. We fasten until the row completely goes around the bottle. It is not necessary that the sticks be perfectly even and the same in height.
We glue the clay decorations to the bottle, and tie the edges of the wooden fence behind with threads.
Using oil paints we draw the stem of a sunflower and a few more large green leaves. Add a little yellow for emphasis.
Using floss threads of the same orange-golden color, we weave a braid 10-15 cm long. We wrap it around the neck of the bottle and tie it in a knot. We paint the lid brown or gold.
This completes the decoration of the bottle. For greater durability and better preservation, you can coat the entire bottle or individual parts with varnish, although oil paints are quite durable without additional coating.
