Watercolor drawing

The question of today is drawing with watercolors. Many, when faced with watercolors, prefer to bypass it, since this paint is fluid and incredibly difficult to handle. However, don't be scared. As they say, the devil is not as scary as he is painted.

To create a watercolor painting you will need:
- pencil and eraser;
- brushes – it is best to take brushes made of artificial material (synthetic) and of different “calibers”;
- two sheets of paper - one for drawing, the second for testing paint. It is desirable that it be specialized for watercolors;
- a can of water;
- tablet for drawing. If you want to make a watercolor drawing using the “wet on” technique, then it is better to take glass, since a moistened sheet of paper will adhere more tightly to it and will not dry out longer. In addition, this technique requires a sponge to wet the format;
- masking tape or sticks to secure the format to the tablet. I prefer masking tape as it holds well, doesn't damage the paper and is easy to use;
- and, of course, you need a palette. Where would an artist be without her?
Now let's begin. First, you need to sketch a drawing on a piece of paper using a pencil and eraser. I decided to draw a flower:

Now let's take on watercolors.It is important to act correctly and change the water frequently. What does it mean to act correctly? When you take a brush, you don’t just need to “wet it, dip it in paint, and point it on the paper.” You need to thoroughly moisten the brush without squeezing it, pick up the paint, moisten it in water again, and only now can you start painting on paper.
It's best to start with the basic elements of the key object. For example, the first thing I did was draw the inflorescence. I first took the main color - orange, and then added lemon yellow and mixed the colors, getting rid of the effect of clear borders.

I paint all the leaves and background in the same way.

To ensure that the paint does not spread across the sheet and does not mix unnecessarily with each other, you just need to remember one rule: you need to draw the border of the image smoothly, without lifting your hand, and before you start applying paint on the other side of the border, you need to let the first one dry. However, you should not worry if the colors are mixed, since the beauty of watercolor is that any flaw in it is beautiful and can be done at any time in the process of creating a drawing.

Now you can modify the background. Don't try to make it perfect right away. It is important to apply only the basic paints. Small details should be avoided, especially if they need to be clear.

So, my flower is drawn, the background is applied. All that remains is to correct some blots and shortcomings, add dark colors in places, remove the tape and refine the corners. All is ready.

Finally, I would like to say that, like any art, watercolor requires constant exercise. But at the same time, mastering this technique is not so difficult. First of all, to perform a watercolor painting you need to have patience and humility. Why - you will understand once you start drawing.
So, I wish you success!
