Makeup bag from an old skirt
All women have such things that simply gather dust on the shelves, take up precious space in the closets and never risk “going out into the world” again. It seems like a pity to get rid of them, but at the same time, there’s nowhere to use them. The only option for using such a wardrobe is needlework. For example, this cute cosmetic bag was made from such an unnecessary skirt.

A big advantage of using such a thing is the presence of all the necessary components in one person. Here you will find finishing material, lining fabric and zipper.

The first step is to work with the finishing material. This skirt combines light chiffon and thick black cotton fabric. Dark, elegant chiffon with bright red irises will become the very front decoration that we will do first.

We cut out two identical rectangles, the sides of which are aligned with a ruler, adjusting them to each other.

Next, we sew the bottom and sides of the bag together, leaving the top sides free.

Now they just need to be processed (tuck the edges and secure with a basting stitch).

Using the same principle, we sew the inside, only the size of the lining should be slightly smaller than the trim itself, because it will still need to be placed inside.

If the upper edges of the chiffon piece were folded inward, then when sewing the lining they (and in general, all seams) should be brought out to the front side of the product. It is this side of it that will be hidden by the decor, but the inner part, on the contrary, will become the “face” of our cosmetic bag.

Since both fabrics do not have increased strength and are not able to hold their shape well, any sealant must be placed between them. It can be a piece of leatherette, thin plastic (from a folder for papers, for example), cardboard or even linoleum.

We place the fabric sides of the zipper between the two parts of the cosmetic bag and stitch along the entire outer edge of the cosmetic bag.

Carefully remove the basting, and then proceed to create additional details. For greater convenience, you can decorate a mini-handbag with a handle (take a ready-made handle from an old wallet or clutch and cover it with our finishing fabric), and also decorate the clasp with all kinds of trinkets, key rings, and beads.

In this case, the clasp is decorated with a small chain with an artificial gemstone in the center and rhinestones.

The cosmetic bag turned out to be not only bright and original, but also light, roomy and neat.
