Homemade cookies “Kaleidoscope”
These cookies always make us remember our childhood, when our mothers or grandmothers were baking, and we had fun cutting out fancy figures from the dough. And then everyone drank delicious herbal tea together.
This recipe is super easy to make and the glaze makes it so much fun. You can have fun with your kids or delight your grandchildren by making these fun cookies.
Ingredients
For the test:
For the glaze:
First you need to soften the butter. This can be done in the microwave. Place the butter in a large bowl, add half of all the sugar, two yolks and beat well with a mixer or blender.
Next, beat the whites and the remaining sugar separately, and beat everything well again.
When the mass has become fluffy, combine the butter with the whites and mix well.
Now add vanilla, flour and baking powder.
Mix everything well and knead a not very tight dough. You can add flour if necessary.
Next, we wrap the resulting dough in cling film or cellophane and put it in the refrigerator for an hour or two. This is necessary so that the butter hardens a little and the dough does not stick too much.
When the adze has cooled, we take it out. We divide in half. We put one part back in the refrigerator. From the second we roll out a flat pancake about one centimeter thick. Don't forget to flour the surface where you will roll out the dough.
Now we can get down to the fun part; we’ll make figures using various molds.
I use special molds made of stainless steel, plastic and silicone.
Next, when the first piece of dough is used up, take the second one out of the refrigerator and make dough figures out of it too.
Turn on the oven. We heat it up to one hundred and fifty degrees.
Take a large baking tray and place baking paper on it.
No need to lubricate with oil. It's better to sprinkle a little flour. We put our dough cookies on it. Leave a distance of about one and a half centimeters between the cookies so that they do not touch each other during baking.
Place in the oven for ten minutes. We should not make the cookies too crispy, as we will have multi-colored glaze on top.
Let's take out our cookies.
While it cools, we will prepare the glaze.
Separate the egg white from the yolk into a bowl. It is important that it is at room temperature, then it is easier to whip it into a thick foam.
Beat the egg whites with a whisk or mixer until a thick foam forms.
Carefully add powdered sugar to form a thick mass.
Pour the glaze into small bowls (the amount depends on the colors) and add your own food coloring to each and mix gently. The glaze is ready.
When the cookies have cooled completely, apply glaze to their surface with a silicone brush.
And leave them for eight to ten hours or overnight, so that the glaze dries.
When the glaze is completely dry, sprinkle the cookies with powdered sugar and serve with tea.
Bon appetit!
