A book - a hiding place from a juice box
What can you make from a juice box? Feeder, organizer, house and many other things. But I want to suggest making a book - a hiding place from a juice box. In this cache you can put various decorations, pleasant, memorable small things, or hide some secret. Unusual? Then, let's get started!
To make a book-cache we will need:
Step 1. Take a small juice box. Using a pencil and ruler, mark the size of the window to be cut out on the box. We cut it out, but not all the way, you should get a lid that can be opened and closed.
Step 2. Now take thick cardboard and outline the box on both sides + leave allowances for gluing of 1 cm on each side.
Step 3. Draw a rectangle 10.5 cm long and 5.5 cm wide - this will be the spine of the book.
Step 4. Cut it out. Let's put them aside for now; we'll need them a little later.
Step 5. Let's make the pages. To do this, take a white sheet of paper.Let's measure the length of the juice box (the length of this box is approximately 8 cm + another 5 mm - these will be the allowances for gluing), draw a straight line down to the end of the sheet and cut it out. There should be approximately 5 such strips.
Step 6. Next, measure the width of the box (it turns out to be approximately 6 cm, but we will also add allowances + 3 mm). We also cut out strips; you will also need approximately 5 pieces. Cut it out.
Step 7. We bend all the resulting strips with an accordion. The smaller the accordion, the more realistic the book's pages will look.
Step 8. Now let's work on the interior decoration of the book - the hiding place. Cover the entire inside with yellow self-adhesive paper. If desired, the color of the paper can be changed, for example, pink or green. If there is no self-adhesive paper, you can replace it with regular colored paper.
Step 9. Let's make the so-called book spine. Looking at the spine, everyone knows the name of the book and who wrote it. To do this, take a pre-prepared rectangle, which we have already cut out (10.5 cm long and 5.5 cm wide). We glue it to our future book using a glue gun. The spine should be slightly curved and convex for realism.
Step 10. Next we will make the book cover. To do this, we will also take 2 rectangles that we cut out in advance. Glue them to the box.
Step 11. Let's paint our book with brown acrylic paint. We are waiting for it to dry.
Step 12 Now let's move on to the pages. We take strips bent like an accordion. The juice box must be coated with a glue gun. If you don't have a glue gun, you can use Moment glue. We glue the wider strips along the length of the book, and glue the narrower strips along the width.Try to glue the layers one after another as tightly as possible to each other. If there are not enough strips, you can additionally draw them, fold them like an accordion and use them. Let me remind you the dimensions for the strips: the length of the book is 8.5 cm and the width is 6.3 cm.
Step 13. All that remains is to print out the title of your favorite book and its spine. In this case, I took F.M. Dostoevsky “Crime and Punishment”, for example, or L.N. Tolstoy’s “War and Peace” or you can even make a children’s book by E. Uspensky “Three from Prostokvashino”. There are many options, use your imagination!
Step 14. Using Moment glue, glue the title of the book. We fix everything with acrylic varnish; if desired, you can cover it in 2 layers. (Photo 17)
Ready!
In appearance, the book is indistinguishable from the real thing. This cache book would make a great gift. It can also be made from a shoebox, it will be a giant book - a dictionary, or you can make a very tiny one from a matchbox. Imagine and you will succeed! I will be glad to see your comments!
