Monitor backlight

I made this simple, and most importantly, very necessary lighting with my own hands from a Chinese lamp. After all, you can’t buy eyes, and working on a computer in a dimly lit room is very harmful to the eyes.

This lamp can be bought for 100-200 rubles. It is powered by 3 AA batteries, that is, 4.5 volts.

Naturally I took it apart. The whole circle is in it LEDs was divided into four boards.

I screwed these boards with small screws to the monitor. Two on each side.

I connected both sides in parallel and powered it all from the USB port through a 10 Ohm resistor using a USB cable from an old printer. You can use a resistor to adjust the brightness by changing its resistance in the range from 100 to 1 ohm.

It turned out to be very convenient: I turn on the computer - the backlight turns on, I turn off the computer - the backlight turns off.

Even though the shooting was during the day, believe me: it’s even better at night.

I bought exactly the same lamp, there are also 4 strips inside, but the power is from 4 pins (6 volts). I decided to connect it to a 5V power supply via USB. The result is that one plank began to smoke and the diodes burned out. the rest seem to be intact. I didn't mix up the power supply with 12V. clearly supplied 5V. what could be the problem?
