Felt Christmas mitten
Very soon everyone’s favorite holiday, which gives magic and faith in a fairy tale, is the New Year. For many years in a row it has been customary to put up a beautiful Christmas tree and decorate the house. But store-bought toys are of the same type - it’s much more pleasant to make something with your own hands, because such a craft will give warmth, love and comfort. We suggest making you a New Year's mitten that will delight you year after year.
All seams are made with double thread. For the outline it is better to use a thick needle. Suitable for needlework with a child over 7 years old. The finished souvenir can be hung on the Christmas tree or decorated at home - for example, on a doorknob or on a nail in the wall.
For work we will need red felt; A4 is enough format.
On paper we draw a sketch of our future mitten.
Cut it out. Fold the felt in half, apply it and trace the workpiece. Cut it out.
Cut out a small heart from paper by eye.
We apply it to our mitten: it should not extend beyond the edges and at the same time be too small.
We trace along the contour and cut out. We do this with only one part of the workpiece.
Cut out a square of white or milky felt a little larger than a heart.
We apply it to the wrong side and sew it with an even seam. Try to make the seams and the distances between them the same.
If corners are sticking out, trim them.
Mark a snowflake on the wrong side.
We embroider a snowflake using beads or medium-sized beads of a silver shade.
We put the 2 parts together and connect them with a nice seam (make a loop and pull the thread to form a knot), leaving the top free.
Again, from white felt we embroider a piece for the top of the mitten, which will imitate fur.
At the bottom we sew the seam forward with a needle.
We stuff the inside with cotton. Cut the red ribbon 15-20 cm long.
We apply it to the side opposite to the thumb and sew it inward. The New Year's mitten is ready.
It’s not difficult to make a craft with your own hands for the New Year, and how much joy it will bring! You can do needlework together with your child, the main thing is to teach him how to handle needles. Otherwise there is no difficulty.
