Smokehouse from a cylinder
One day, a couple of my friends and I decided to build something interesting. The gaze fell on a pair of gas cylinders standing in the corner. It was decided to make a smokehouse for hot smoking meat, lard or sausages.
We decided to start. I would like to immediately add that none of us were either welders or engineers. Therefore, almost everything had to be done the same as the first time.
Smokehouse stand
We started making a hot smoker with a stand. This may not be entirely correct, but we decided so. We had several cylinders of different diameters. Taking the largest one, we sawed off the top of it. And it turned out to be a kind of plate. Next, we sawed the pipes and welded them, we got legs.
Cutting a cylinder for a firebox
Next, we took a smaller balloon and cut off about one third of its length. Then they cut a hole for the chimney.
Assembling the firebox with the base
We cut out a window for throwing in firewood and weld the firebox to the base. Then we weld the door to the window on the hinges. A hole is made in the center of the door, in which, in the future, there will be a handle.
Cutting a smoking cylinder
We mark the boundaries where we will cut with masking tape. And first we cut off the bottom of the cylinder, and then we cut out the doors.
Making food grids
The gratings are made of steel mesh and a narrow strip of steel. This strip can be taken from the same cylinder by sawing off the ring from below. To make the diameter a little smaller, you need to cut out a groove at the end and weld it by squeezing the ring. Then weld the mesh. And finally, we weld the resulting rings into the smoking cylinder itself.
Smokehouse assembly
We place the smokehouse cylinder on the firebox. Let's level everything. And then we weld it in a circle, making the structure unified.
We complement the smokehouse with a door
We hang the door, secure it and weld the hinges. We also welded fasteners to prevent the door from opening spontaneously during cooking. Although this is not at all necessary.
Next, we weld the pipe with the damper - this is also not necessary, rather for aesthetics.
The smokehouse is ready for testing
We tested the smokehouse - everything is great. Now I can smoke not only meat and homemade sausage, but also fish. Everything turns out very tasty.
In principle, such a smokehouse can be made from cylinders of the same diameter, we just had different ones.
I would like to add: when working with metal and metalworking tools, be extremely vigilant! Take your time.
Before cutting the cylinders, make sure they are free of pressure and gas. It is best to fill it with water to the brim before processing so that excess vapor comes out.
Thanks to all!
