Knitted cactus
The crochet hook was invented by a genius - no less! With the help of this simple tool you can literally make anything, not even counting items of clothing, bedspreads, napkins and other similar things for comfort. For a magical transformation, you need to have only a few components: imagination, threads of the desired color and the ability to knit with a regular stitch.
I was prompted to create a cactus by a request from my godson. He really wanted to care for such a flower, but due to his young age, access to prickly and breakable objects was denied to him. And I thought that the thorns could be replaced with beads, and the ceramic pot could be replaced with a knitted one. No sooner said than done!
The beginning of the future cactus is a chain knitted from four loops, connected into a ring. This very ring is tied with posts.
The first row of columns in a circle, the second, the third and so on... By adjusting the number of columns in the circular rows, adding and subtracting them, we give the future objects of our pride (both the pot and the cactus - in turn) the desired shape.
When the finished green “case” comes out from under the hook, all we have to do is fill it with padding polyester, close it with a knitted or fabric bottom sewn on the bottom and decorate it with decorative needles - beads.
Remembering that cacti can bloom, I added a few more details to my craft. And in order for the flowers and buds to look like real ones, I knitted them from the thinnest threads - the kind that is usually used for sewing.
Let me make a reservation that buds are also an ordinary knitting in columns in a circle. Flowers can be knitted however you like. My cactus blooms with regular knitted chains gathered in a bun.
The cactus I gave to my godson almost turned into a pincushion for his mother. And so that the child would not be left without the desired toy, I had to quickly knit another one. Then another one for yourself. And one more, a second, a third - for my friends who saw such a new thing on one of my shelves. In a word, if you don’t know how to please your hostess or child, please them with knitted cacti. Checked: a win-win option!
