A simple device for picking fruit from a height from a PVC pipe
Owners of suburban areas know how many difficulties arise during harvesting from tall trees. Using a stepladder is dangerous and not always possible, the ground is soft and sinks. It is not advisable to use the old method and shake the tree; when it falls, the fruits are damaged and are not stored for a long time. There is an excellent way out - to make a simple but very effective device.
The device is made from a piece of plastic pipe with a diameter of 100-150 mm, length approximately 40 cm. To cut a hole, you can use a grinder or a hacksaw. At the ends of the pipe it is necessary to fix the wire, about 1 m with a diameter of 1–2 mm is required; to bend and bite it you need to have pliers. Holes for the wire are drilled with a drill or made with a hot nail of the appropriate diameter. The second option is preferable; drilling a smooth round plastic pipe is difficult. The device is attached to a long stick.
At one end of the pipe, cut a hole in the form of an equilateral triangle. The height is approximately 15 cm, the length of the base is 10 cm. Make a slot at the top: the hole captures the fruit, and the stalk enters the slot. It is advisable to chamfer sharp edges to minimize the likelihood of damage to the crop.
Using one of the methods described above, make holes for attaching two pieces of wire at the top of the triangle. One should be done on each side of the triangle and two on the opposite wall of the pipe. Insert the wire into them and bend the ends with pliers. The wire must be stiff, use steel. The load on it when tearing fruits from the tree is quite large; if you use soft wire, it bends. As a result, the thin vertices of the triangle bend, the plastic pipe is severely deformed and quickly breaks. A strong wire holds the pipe section in its initial position.
From the opposite end, make holes at a distance of about 2–3 cm, stretch wire through them, and make a mesh. Here, on the contrary, it is recommended to use soft, preferably stranded, electrical wires. They have a polymer coating and cause less damage to fruits.
Screw a long stick to one of the sides, make at least two fixation points to eliminate the risk of turning.
The fruits should be grabbed through the hole in the pipe; the stalk automatically appears at the top and falls between two wires. Next, you need to pull the device down and tear the stalk off the branch. The harvested crop is carefully poured into prepared containers.
The network offers several options for devices for picking fruit, but the one we described has one important advantage: it works both vertically and horizontally. This makes gardening much easier.

How to operate the device

Conclusion
