How to make a glass jar shockproof

Many people have had unpleasant situations when a full glass jar broke due to an accidental impact on a hard or sharp object and the entire contents spilled onto the ground. There is a fairly effective method of protecting it.
What to prepare
Depending on the diameter of the cans, you should prepare plastic bottles of the appropriate size. A five-liter plastic bottle is perfect for protecting a three-liter jar; a 0.75-liter glass jar is the same in diameter as a one and a half liter bottle. Additionally, you will need a construction hair dryer; you can use an ordinary household hair dryer with a power of 2 kW. The plastic is cut with a mounting knife, the edges are straightened with scissors.
Work process
Using a paring knife, cut off the top of a five-liter plastic bottle. Leave the height as large as possible, do not touch the cylindrical section.

Insert a three-liter glass jar inside the workpiece and lower it to the very bottom.

Use scissors to trim the uneven edges of the plastic.

Using a heat gun, begin shrinking the plastic around the can. Turn it constantly, heat it as it shrinks.Try to keep the plastic as even as possible, do not leave any protrusions, and heat it evenly. Remember that the polymer melts at temperatures above 150 degrees Celsius, work carefully and do not allow complete melting.

The thickness of the bottom is much greater than the walls, making it more difficult to seat. You need to heat it longer; if this does not help, then after softening the polymer, press the jar firmly onto a flat surface. It will take the desired position, and the plastic will remain intact.

As a result, after heating, the plastic bottle should fit tightly over the entire area to the glass jar - you get a durable and airtight case.
Using the same algorithm, finish the jar in a one and a half liter plastic bottle.

Now you can check the effectiveness of the protection. Fill the jars with water, hold the neck with one hand, and hit the side surfaces with the other with a hammer. Moderate loads do not have a negative impact at all. With fairly strong impacts, the glass cracks, but the jar remains intact and water does not spill out.

A three-liter jar breaks more easily, but even in this case the liquid does not spill, even if the glass completely falls off. If necessary, cover the case with gauze and pour out the water without pieces of glass.

Conclusion
Conclusion - time was not wasted in vain, the method is effective. For those who often travel to the forest for various harvests or to the country, it is recommended to protect several cans of various sizes in this way. Even if they are broken, the interior and body of the car will remain dry and clean.
