Removing dents using a plastic bottle
Let's imagine you decided to save money on repairs and decided to do it yourself. Everything is clear with painting and priming the damaged coating, but what to do with dents? Of course, you don’t have a specialized tool. This is where an ordinary plastic bottle will come to your aid. Well, I think getting it is not a problem at all.
If the dent is not serious, then straightening it yourself will not be difficult, even for a beginner in this matter.
Will need
- Several PET bottles with caps.
- Hot glue stick.
- Ideally, you still need to have a hair dryer.
Removing dents on a car with a plastic bottle
The first step is to prepare the surface for straightening. If there will be painting in the future, then it is necessary to sand the dent with medium-grit sandpaper. Then be sure to degrease. If the surface will not be painted, then simply degrease it.
The bottle cap must also be sanded with coarser sandpaper and degreased in the same way.
In this case, we will straighten a longitudinal dent on the threshold.
Now let's get straight to work. We heat up the hot glue with a hot glue gun (if you don’t have a hair dryer, use matches or a lighter).
Apply glue liberally to the cork, then quickly glue it into the middle of the dent to straighten it.
We glue the required number of bottle caps along the entire length of the dent, and then screw on the bottles themselves.
Let's move on to correction. We pull each bottle in turn. With small intensifying jerks.
Until everyone comes off.
Visually control the straightening process. It may be necessary to repeat these operations several times. It all depends on the specific defect.
As a result, the threshold became even.
The remaining minor irregularities and imperfections will be hidden by putty.
Here's a useful life hack that will probably come in handy for you.
