How to quickly and cheaply make a garden watering can from unnecessary trash
A garden watering can is used to water tree seedlings and garden plants with minimal water consumption. Thanks to the long spout, it is convenient to add water directly under the stems without spilling it between the rows. You can make such a watering can from a plastic canister of a suitable volume.
First you need to connect the lid of the canister to the tube. To do this, a hole is made in the lid for pressing the pipe. The easiest way to cut it is with a knife heated over a flame.
The tube is cut to a convenient length.
Then it needs to be bent at the edge for more comfortable pouring of water. To do this, it is heated at the bend with a hairdryer or simply over a flame. After bending, you need to hold it for a couple of seconds so that the plastic cools and retains its new shape.
You can use a small plastic jar as a diffuser for a watering can.
This could be a container for liquid soap, shampoos, etc. Many holes are pierced in the bottom of the bottle with a hot needle. Then its neck is cut so that the tube coming out of the canister stopper can be inserted into it.
To seal, it is necessary to cold weld the joints of the pipe with the plug and the jar.
It is rolled out like a sausage and pressed into the joints. To prevent cold welding from sticking to your fingers when smoothing, they need to be moistened with water. On the plug, welding is applied on both sides so that the tube is guaranteed not to fall out. The watering can is then set aside until the weld sets. This may take from 2 to 24 hours.
Then you need to cut a filling hole on top of the canister from the handle side.
The standard neck is not suitable for this, since when draining water it is important to ensure free access of air into the watering can. In addition, the presence of another hole will eliminate the need to remove the spout each time you refill.
If desired, the watering can can be painted with spray paint. It holds up well both on plastic and cold welding. When making a watering can, you should pay attention to the length of the tube used. If you calculate everything according to your height, then you can water without bending your back. It is also advisable to use a thicker pipe so that the water flows out quickly. A diameter of 32 mm is optimal.
