How to make a mounting gun from a piece of PVC pipe

To seal cracks in walls, interpanel and inter-tile seams, it is convenient to use a refillable sealant gun. It allows you to squeeze out a solution, glue or sealant in place, which minimizes the consumption of materials, speeds up and makes work easier. You can easily make such a tool yourself from a plastic sewer pipe.

Materials:

• sewer pipe 50 mm;
  
• plywood 10 mm;
  
• persistent furniture nut M8;
  
• short screws;
  
• M8 pin;
  
• M6 washer;
  
• M6 bolt;
  
• M8 nuts - 4 pcs.;
  
• M6 nuts - 3 pcs.;
  
• steel strip;
  
• PET bottle 5 l;
  
• bottle cap with spout.

Gun manufacturing process

A piece 20-25 cm long is cut from the sewer pipe.

Then you need to cut out 2 circles from plywood equal to the inner diameter of the pipe. One should fit tightly into it, and the second should slide freely. Holes are drilled in the center of the circles.

We clamp the bolts in a screwdriver and grind them to the desired diameter.

An M8 persistent furniture nut is pressed into the circle, which fits tightly into the pipe. It is then inserted into the pipe with the nut facing inward.

Next, you need to fix it with self-tapping screws, screwing them from the side through the pipe wall.


To make the gun rod, an M8 pin 25 cm long is used. One of its edges is sharpened to a cone. An M6 washer is put on it and it is splashed with a hammer so that the washer does not fly off.


There are 3 holes in the washer on the stud for self-tapping screws. The washer is then screwed to the remaining plywood disc. The pin with the disk is inserted inside the pipe and screwed into the pressed-in nut.



Next, a knob is made on the rod. To do this, you can use a piece of strip, or use a brake lever from the rear bicycle hub. An M6 bolt is inserted into it on one side and tightened with a nut. Then a piece of tube is put on the bolt and clamped. The driver is installed on the stud and tightened with nuts.



Then you need to cut off the neck of the plastic bottle.

It is glued into the pipe using hot glue.

A hole the size of a coin is cut into the cap of the bottle. Then the nose is glued into it.


It can be cut from a bottle of glue, ketchup or mustard. You only need to glue the spout; the threaded part of the lid is cut off.

To use the gun, you need to unscrew the cap with the glued spout and fill it with the necessary solution.


Then the cap is screwed back on. To squeeze out the solution, you need to rotate the knob so that the rod moves inward. If you have a cordless screwdriver, you can simply clamp the pin in its chuck, which will increase the speed of work compared to using a wrench.
