Drill attachment made from an old grinder for sawing wood
For quick and convenient pruning of branches, you can make a lopper based on a gearbox from a broken grinder. This is a useful homemade product for a large garden, especially if you need to do sanitary pruning of the upper crown.
Materials:
- broken grinder;
- pipe 50 mm;
- clamp;
- Sheet steel.
Lopper manufacturing process
The gearbox is removed from the grinder along with the engine.
Then the motor shaft is cut off and the impeller is dismantled.
A side hole is made in a small section of pipe slightly wider than the diameter of the drill chuck key.
Longitudinal slits are cut from one edge.
After this, an adapter is made from sheet steel for attachment to the gearbox and welded to the pipe.
It is also necessary to weld a nut to it to install a standard handle from an angle grinder.
The tube is screwed to the gearbox.
A drill is inserted into it from the reverse side.
Its cartridge is clamped onto the shaft with a key through a side hole. After this, to prevent rotation, the structure is tightened onto the drill body with a clamp.
A new collapsible casing, consisting of two halves, is welded from sheet steel and the old protection from the angle grinder.
2 supports from a corner or pipe are welded onto it. The casing is installed on the gearbox together with the circular disk.
The resulting equipment, in combination with a battery-powered tool, is a very convenient solution for sanitary pruning of branches in the garden at any height. The cut is less traumatic for a living tree than with a chainsaw, and is faster than with a hand saw.
